This week we would like to mention and honor a few veterans whose inventions have contributed to the present-day technology of the world.
We honor veteran John Goodenough, who invented the chemical formulation contained in the lithium-ion batteries used now in cell phones, laptops, digital cameras, among other devices.
We honor WWII veteran, Wilson Greatbach, who holds 150 patents related to the implantable pacemaker.
We honor veteran Norman Woodland, who served in the Army Air Corp as technician on the Manhattan Project and invented the bar code.
Finally, we honor Civil War veteran, George Westinghouse, for his many inventions, including alternating electrical power transmission, the rotary steam engine, a railway brake, and his many patents on the safe transport of natural gas.
